Developing English Writing Material for EFL SNS Users

The number of SNS users has enormously been growing, and SNS use is affecting English education and EFL learners. Despite such tremendous SNS influences on SLA learners, there is not much information or materials concerning the application of  SNS for English learning and teaching. This paper aims to i) review previous studies back up the materials with stronger theoretical foundation  ii) evaluate the existing relevant materials currently on the domestic market iii) develop materials that reflect material evaluation results. Findings from the market research clearly demonstrate the need for SNS writing materials targeting Korean English language learners. Based on the theoretical background and the results of the needs analyses, the book 'SNS English Posting Style Book ' was developed and published. The material includes sample chapters containing various types of tasks in authentic contexts on SNS.
